Messiness

We live in a messy world. We are surrounded by messy situations in our relationships, our families, our friendships, our parenting, our bodies, our
hearts, our priorities, our businesses, our jobs, our schools, our homes, our churches, our government, our country, our world – it is not hard to feel down about the mess things are in.

This is no surprise to God though. The world is not how he intended it to be. We live with sin in our world and in a broken relationship with our creator. He is not a God of chaos but of order. He sent his Son, Jesus into this mess to make a way for our relationship with him to be restored. He knows
what it is like to live in this mess and has experienced it first hand, which is why it says in the bible to fix our eyes on Jesus. Follow his example of how to deal with the problems and chaos we face in our lives.

The restoration of our relationship with him does not remove the mess, this will only happen when he returns to take us home, but it gives us a new perspective and a hope to cope through life’s struggles. If we choose to fix our eyes on Jesus and follow his leading, others around us will see there is a hope that this messy world does not offer – a God that offers order in chaos, peace in conflict, clarity in confusion, hope in helplessness, joy in sorrow, strength in weakness, forgiveness
in fracture, and healing in brokenness.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2 (NIV)

So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” 2 Corinthians 4:1-8, 10-18 NLT
