If we are honest with God maybe we can avoid a tragic end.
What else can we learn from Saul, a major character in the Old Testament, but a man who never quite acheived what he was called to do. What was it that stopped him, his increasing insecurity, the consuming jealousy of others, or his view of his own importance. Not many people erect statues of themselves but Saul did. What started off with such potential ended with Saul saying that he had lived life as a fool, and with him falling on his own sword. Tragic.
David was not perfect but is described as a man after God’s own heart. Maybe the secret is found in David’s honesty as he faced life.
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139 : 23 – 24
