So what do you think of when you think of Jesus Christ?
From the outset of John’s Gospel, and he writes John expects us to see only one thing – that Jesus Christ was the Light and Son of God who came to reveal the Fathers Glory to us, His humanity. Described as the Word in the first 5 verses, Jesus is said to have be with God from the beginning, an allusion to the beginning of the biblical narrative in Genesis 1:1. God became flesh and dwelt amongst us becoming the “Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29).
Praise God for His Son and the redemption He offers.
In John 2, we find that this Jesus was not a distant Saviour. He moved among everyday people. As John writes, he moves from a lesson on the deity of Jesus Christ, how he is God, to how he starts to interact with people and they with Him. In the last part of chapter 1 we see that six disciples who trusted in Jesus begin their lifelong walk with Him. Going from one event to another they begin to see this extraordinary individual as a unique figure in history.
