If you read the story of David and Mephibosheth you are really struck by this concept of grace. Somehow when this crippled guy, from a barren place, with a name that means shameful, a real nobody is invited to sit at the kings table and is restored to his real inheritance.
It reminds us that no matter where we come from, no matter what we have done or who we are, we have this invitation to sit at the Kings table and to enjoy a restored relationship with God. Even when Mephibosheth was betrayed by those he trusted, his only concern was a right relationship with King David.
Mephibosheth said ”Let him take everything, now that my lord the king has arrived home safely.”
