A conversation with Brad Thorn and David Pocock

They say it !

All you need is love

1 John 2:15  Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

Have you ever pondered how missionaries in difficult circumstances survive persecution and manage to remain steadfast in their love of Christ?  People in that situation, more often than
not, don’t have much in comparison to our standards, but the richness of Christ in them, for everyone to see.

Everything else doesn’t seem to matter, cars, houses, money are all a very poor second to their love of Christ.  There is no great earthly inheritance to speak off only a glorious one that waits in heaven.  Things outside of ministry requirements are seen, quite literally, as useless and unnecessary. Before we came into fellowship and the saving grace of Christ all we had was possessions. Now knowing the Father through faith in Christ, those things are insignificant.  We too can be people who love God and forsake things.

Shedding our lives of the dependence on things will allow us to never lose sight of the greatest treasure!  When our shoulders aren’t weighed down with the earthly load we are free to experience the beautiful love of the Father.  Never fall out of love, gaze longingly into the heart of Christ and your heart and soul shall be satisfied.

Significant or Insignificant

Mark 10:27 “But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.”

In a world where dazzling lights and ‘bigger is better’ tends to be the norm, the potential to get caught up in our own self importance is very real. In those sobering moments of clarity, we might do a U-turn and  contemplate how insignificant we are. These two extremes never seemingly exist with a great deal of unity.

The world thrives on the extraordinary, the spectacular taking centre stage, extravagance highlighted in our ‘buy now pay later’ culture. The world loves to worship: …..but what?

Preceding this verse Jesus had a discourse with a young man whose life was perfect in his own eyes but out of kilter in the eyes of Jesus. The pursuit of eternal life would cost more than he was willing to part with. We may think ourselves insignificant by world standards, but when we accept Christ as Lord and Saviour a whole new dynamic takes place.

God takes the ordinary and insignificant and makes it extraordinarily significant.  With the Spirit indwelling our mortal frames, our eternal security and life has been remarkably and supernaturally
transformed. The question is, how does it look? Allow God to take you on a spectacular journey of discovery and hope. Be encouraged. God has a great plan for us all.
