Myamnar
One of the projects we support is a partnership focused on the support of six church planters in various parts of Myamnar. When we were in Asia we didn’t go on this leg of the trip, but the report by Kevin Honore can be found on this link. http://www.brighthopeworld.com/report.asp?report=173
The church is alive and well in Myanmar. Please take the time to read the report and pray for these people.
Peru
We also have received exciting news from the partnership project we support in Peru.
This past April we visited for a second time a Shipibo village to make preparations for the missionary team that will seek contact with an un-contacted tribe in that general area that has shown that it wants to come out of hiding. On a previous visit in October 2008, we were informed by the church that there was a favorable location a day’s trip away (by canoe) where contact could probably be made. However, on this second visit, the church leaders counseled us not to go to that place because it was not safe, due to drug traffickers frequently using that route to transport their drugs. We were told that there was a safer place to set up ……. a missionary camp for contacting the tribe, but that it is three days away. The leaders also told us that the month of June was the best time to begin the project, because by then the rains would have diminished sufficiently. The leaders also pledged the backing of the church in prayer, with some trusted men to accompany the team, and with food for getting started.
On this visit, it was learned something else that requires a change in the original plans: the elderly man, who speaks the language of the new tribe, and who accepted to join the team, is no longer available because he passed away. The Lord took him before fulfilling his dream of contacting this tribe so that missionaries can work with them.
Thus, the way things are looking now, we will go sometime next month with a team of a few men from the church to choose the site of the missionary camp, to begin building houses, and to make farms. There are a few funds available for getting started on this project, but more will be needed soon on a monthly basis for the needs of the team: for food, for medicines, and for fuel for the monthly trips to and from the base camp on a motorized canoe. A small amount of funds will also be needed for purchasing the gifts that will be placed periodically on the hunting trails of the new tribe.
Our biggest need right now is for prayer for this project, because Satan will try to block it in every way possible (as he has done in other projects of ours for contacting new tribes). Please put before the Lord the following prayer requests:
1. The selection of the team members that will participate in this project.
2. The best place to set up the missionary camp, in the midst of where these nomadic people hunt.
3. Protection for all the team members from sickness, and from accidents as they cut down trees, build houses and make farms.
4. That God work in the hearts of the members of this new tribe, delivering them from fear of strangers, and giving them a strong desire to make friends with the newcomers.
5. That God provide for the expenses of this strategic outreach to make friends with an un-reached (and un-contacted) tribe, so that missionaries can tell them about Jesus.
Thank you for your backing.
