Mission

We believe that we need to be involved in the world and support the mission of God to make disciples of all nations.  We do this at a range of levels which everyone can be involved with.

Child Sponsorship – Tear Fund

Every week the kids at church give a few gold coins and support two kids – one in Thailand and one in Brazil through Tear Fund.  Its about giving other kids in our world a chance in life.

Christmas Boxes – Samaritan’s Purse

Christmas ChildFor the last few years we have been part of this simple but effective programme.  Simple, take an old shoe box and put in it those little things that every kid needs, something to wear, love, write, play with.. and they are all sent off to make another child’s Christmas special.  The Samaritan’s Purse organisation sends thousands – we add ours to everyone else’s to help share the message of God with our world.

La Mai Coffee – Coffee with a Conscience.

LaMaiCoffee

The North of Thailand grows some of the best opium poppies in the world. The Golden Triangle, as it is known, does not produce “gold” for the growers or for the end users – the heroin addicts around the world.

Bright Hope has partnered with Thai co-operatives to help these growers convert to coffee growing. They actually make more money from growing coffee. It was the “middle men” who made the money from opium.
Bright Hope invests in helping growers improve their coffee, introducing the concepts of organic growing, shade trees and growing our credibility with these tough hill country people by buying their crop and improving their marketing techniques.

Supporting these families is critical.  These are the tribal people who often sell their daughters into prostitution. They want to believe they are joining a night club to entertain with their dancing.   Girls as young as eight to ten years are “bought” by scouts and are forced into a sordid life of prostitution. They send most of their earnings home to help their family.  We find all of this difficult to grasp – but buying their coffee helps to change this.

You can order this from the church office or directly from www.brighthopeworld.com

Individuals we support

We also actively support individuals across the world – Los Angeles, the UK, France, Thailand, Peru, Myamnar and right here in NZ.
