Easter – what is it all about

What is Easter all about? Each week at our church, we look back at the sacrifice of Christ through communion. The taking of the emblems, bread and wine, symbolizes the body of Christ and the shedding of His blood for the forgiveness of the believer’s sin. Each emblem contributes to a stark reminder of the sacrifice Jesus undertook so that we who believe might have the hope (assurance) of eternal life in heaven. Easter likewise is another reference point when…

Church Camp 11 – 13 March

Church Camp 11 – 13 March As we continue to grow our church will move from relationships to mission. This will never mean that we won’t have meaningful relationships within our church, we certainly will at all levels. Our relationships should always be motivated by our love for Christ, keeping His commands as we love and serve each other and the community. We will find our deepest and sometimes most difficult connections serving Christ together. The challenge is to take…
Prepare him room

Prepare Him Room

“Prepare Him Room” is the name of this year’s Christmas Eve Carol Service.  The words come from the carol “Joy to the World” written by Isaac Watts in 1719. The full first verse is: Joy to the World, the Lord is come! Let earth receive her King; Let every heart prepare him room, And heaven and nature sing. What’s strange about “Joy to the World” is that there is nothing particularly “Christmassy” about it. Tradition means we sing this carol…

GrATEFUL

A Grateful Heart

Grateful 1 Chronicles 16 Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice! Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually! An old story goes like this – a king was concerned by the ungrateful nature of his court. He arranged a…

Parenting @ The Anchor Church

None of us are perfect, in fact far from it but we are all striving to do our best and raise well rounded, happy children. We have at The Anchor run some Parents Inc. courses and these have been well received…

Prayer

Prayer that matters

Worshipping God is the great essential of fitness. If you have not been worshipping…when you get to work you will not only be useless yourself, but a tremendous hindrance to those who are associated with you. ~ Oswald Chambers Groanings which cannot be uttered are often prayers which cannot be refused. ~ Spurgeon Nothing tends more to cement the hearts of Christians than praying together. Never do they love one another so well as when they witness the outpouring of…

Grow your faith

Grow your faith For the next few weeks we are studying this topic – Five things God uses to grow our faith. Imagine how different your outlook on life would be if you had absolute confidence that God was with you? Imagine how differently you would respond to difficulties, temptations, and even good things if you knew with certainty that God was in all of it and was planning to leverage it for good. In other words, imagine what it…
